The Santa Fe Community Project believes in helping the community but not ignoring our brothers and sisters across the world. Each act of giving locally is complemented and follow by a sharing with someone abroad.
It is the community you see before you that reflects the love and good you share. We who walk this planet bear a responsibility to the one next to us; charity must be a natural act, like wake and sleep.
We must not forget those we cannot see. Walking blindly is simply ignoring truths that exist, so as you walk and see those before you, think of those beyond the sunrise and sunset.
The Santa Fe Community Project was founded by Annie Bagod in 1993. A retired school teacher who spent much of her free time educating those in financially affected neighborhoods. It did not take long before her peers followed suit, and they came up with the idea of helping the community but not ignoring the world.
In the mid-nineties, Annie partnered with several global organizations, and together they devised a plan of how community giving can lead to global giving. The first step was the involve the students, where they became penpals with those abroad. Through a letter exchange, we fostered education. The children learned about the brothers and sisters across the world's needs; and assisted in fulling through a charitable act.
Annie passed away in 2015. However, her spirit still lives with the act of giving.
